Cape Town has dramatic clouds … the vault can be perfectly cloudless, at night so much so that the black of the sky is blue …

It can be windswept, cleared of every atom of condensation (okay, that is illogical science … but most would know what I mean by that … )

When the clouds come they come in all sorts of shapes and sizes and dramas – or no dramas …

These are Autumn clouds.

Special clouds as Autumn is special in Cape Town, understated, unpretentious …

One impressionistic view of Autumn clouds is that they are undecided, should they or should they not … ?

Layers do their own thing …

Higher up they may be gentle small aggregations of cotton balls drifting in a vortex of indecision.

Not sure why, where to, we will just hang around up there and look polite and pretty …

Lower down they may be more linear and direct with purpose … strata like, that is more definitive, with a sense of purpose or at least desirous of purpose …

And lower down still, foaming where they meet the land.

In Autumn it is soft foam though … like a blanket being applied reassuringly by a mother over her child.

These cloudscapes could be almost works of art in water colors, smudges without definite edges, lingering, hiding part of a mountain, not hiding it, revealing it …

The commuters I see as I drive have their heads down on freeways, heading home, they only need to lift their heads up a little, and let the clouds float them away …
